October 19, 2022 | AIJAC

The Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC) has expressed its deep disappointment with the Federal Government’s decision to reverse its predecessor’s recognition of west Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, calling the announcement “a pointless own goal” which appears to undermine the government’s own self-declared Mideast policy.

AIJAC hopes both Queensland and Tasmania, which have also announced they intend to introduce swastika bans, and the other states and territories as well, will move quickly to introduce and adopt such legislation. These bans are an important tool to deter open displays of antisemitism and further marginalise racist extremists, and will help strengthen communal cohesion and harmony across Australia.

August 7, 2022 | AIJAC

The Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC) today condemned the continued targeting of Israeli civilians by the terrorist group Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ). PIJ, widely proscribed as a terrorist group, including by Australia, the US, Canada and the European Union, has fired more than 350 rockets at Israel since Friday, including more than 90 which have fallen inside the Gaza Strip. One of these fell on a house in Jabaliya in Gaza, killing seven, including four children, a tragedy the Palestinians are now trying to blame Israel for.

It is completely unsurprising that this Commission has now issued a report – without visiting Israel or hearing the Israeli side of the story – saying the conflict is all Israel’s fault.
