It is now looking very likely that a new “coalition of change” government will be able to take office in Israel within a week or two, ousting long-serving PM Binyamin Netanyahu and hopefully ending more than two years of political deadlock, including four inconclusive elections.

An explosion of antisemitism in the wake of the Gaza conflict

The past few weeks have witnessed an explosion of antisemitic attacks and events around the world, which started during the Israeli-Hamas conflict, but has not abated even after the ceasefire. Incidents have been up an estimated 75% in the US, while in Britain, they are said to be up nearly 500% over an 11 day period.

After the Hamas-Israel ceasefire

After 11 days of fighting, a Hamas-Israel ceasefire was declared last night, thanks to US and Egyptian mediation, and appears to be holding. Given this is the fourth round of conflict between Israel and Hamas-ruled Gaza since 2008, this Update focuses on analysis and opinion concerning what can and should be done in the aftermath of the ceasefire to prevent yet another round of violence in a few years’ time.
