The conflict between Israel and Hamas will continue to divide us, unless we risk face-to-face discussion

December 5, 2023 | Ran Porat

When I had to teach classes a few days after the 7 October Hamas massacre of Israeli civilians living next to the Gaza Strip, I did not want to go to the university. I knew people who had lost loved ones — children, brothers, sisters, fathers, and mothers — in the slaughter.

A powerless Hamas is the only way this war will end

November 30, 2023 | Colin Rubenstein

An immediate, permanent ceasefire would therefore cost, not protect, innocent lives in the longer term. It would only defer those casualties until Hamas’ promised future rounds of warfare.

A permanent ceasefire now would be a victory for Hamas

November 29, 2023 | Justin Amler

A permanent ceasefire would be a terrible idea, at least for the time being. It would not end the conflict but prolong it. It would end up costing more lives, because it would effectively mean Hamas survives, and no longer has to fear Israeli action to prevent it repeating its attacks.

Hamas is using hospitals to commit “acts harmful to the enemy”

November 26, 2023 | Oved Lobel

When Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong says Israel must stop “attacking” hospitals, she is wrong as a factual, legal and moral matter. Israel is attacking Hamas, and Hamas, like the PLO before it, is using hospitals to commit acts harmful to the enemy. This forces Israel to act against these Hamas terrorists, even as it does everything required of it by international law, and more, to protect and aid civilians in the vicinity.

Under pressure, Netanyahu agrees to a ceasefire and hostage deal with Hamas. Are his days now numbered?

November 23, 2023 | Ran Porat

As long as the war continues, Netanyahu’s position appears safe. Initially, his followers claimed it is no time to deal with petty politics when the war is being fought. Yet, soon afterwards, it became clear the prime minister was refusing to take personal responsibility for what occurred on October 7

A plea to the silent majority: It’s time to speak up for Jews

November 16, 2023 | Paul Rubenstein

With the growing audacity and mendacity of the ignorance, lies and sheer hatred being flung at Jews and the State of Israel in our media, on our streets, from those in the professions and most concerningly from our institutions of supposed higher learning I ask myself, where is the silent majority?

November 15, 2023 | Jamie Hyams

Imagine a world where terrorists could attack neighbouring countries, safe in the knowledge they would be immune from any armed response provided they had civilians they could hide behind.
