Events in the Middle East continue to fill the front pages of newspapers and arouse heated debate around the world. Of all topics keeping the Middle East in the news, however, no sub-issue generates as much emotion, debate, and ire as the Israel-Palestinian conflict.

This publication was inspired and adapted for use by AIJAC in Australia from an original text by the American Jewish Committee, entitled ‘Israel and the Arab-Israeli Conflict: A Brief Guide for the Perplexed.’ The AJC edition, most recently revised in 2016 and available in several languages in addition to the original English text, can be found at www.ajc.org.

It offers a digestible guide to key events that have shaped the conflict and the complex situation that exists today.
