The Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC) congratulates the Abbott government for carrying through on a campaign promise, and including Israel on the list of eligible countries for electronic lodgement of the popular visitor (subclass 600) visa applications.

“While Israelis have always found Australia to be a warm and welcoming environment to visit, the advent of electronic visitor visa application lodgement will make it more convenient as well,” said AIJAC Executive Director Colin Rubenstein.

“The prior visa processing arrangement for Israelis may have been adequate at one time, but in recent years, the need for more streamlining had grown,” AIJAC National Chairman Mark Leibler said.

“We thank Prime Minister Abbott for promptly following through on his pledge to add Israel to the family of nations that enjoy the convenience of electronic lodgement of visitor (subclass 600) visas. We look forward to the increase in tourism from our friends and family in Israel that is sure to follow.”
