Bulldozing the truth about Jerusalem

Bulldozing the truth about Jerusalem

From the Epic Revisionist Handbook 2011, comes the kind of story that the West and pro-Palestinian apologists prefer to gloss over, a documentary on official Palestinian Authority TV reveals a bright glorious future…. without Jewish people in Jerusalem.

Broadcast on August 10, the documentary apparently labels Jewish worship as “sin and filth” and that “Jews will disappear from the picture”. The show conjures up a nightmarish future, promising that the Western Wall Plaza – the most holy place for prayer in the world for Jews – will disappear and be replaced by an Arab residential suburb.

The Israeli public affairs organisation Palestinian Media Watch which publicises anti-Israel and antisemitism in Palestinian society is hosting the most offending part of the documentary here:

“They [Israelis] know for certain that our [Palestinian] roots are deeper than their false history. We, from the balcony of our home, look out over [Islamic] holiness and on sin and filth (Jews’ praying at Western Wall) in an area that used to have [Arab] people and homes. We are drawing our new maps. When they [Israelis] disappear from the picture, like a forgotten chapter in the pages of our city’s history, we will build it anew (residential area). The Mughrabi Quarter will be built here (on the Western Wall Plaza).”

The language is inflammatory and antisemitic, and yet, all too commonplace in official internal Palestinian discourse.

But it perfectly encapsulates why the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is ongoing – the Palestinians deny any Jewish connection with the historic land of Israel/Palestine, dismiss any Jewish links with Jerusalem, and can never countenance the idea that justice demands the land and the holy sites be shared.

Imagine the outcry and reaction if an official media outlet of the Government of Israel called for the destruction of the al-Aksa mosque, or proposed a future in which Arabs were excluded from Jerusalem?

Jonathan Tobin on Commentary‘s blog discusses the issue too.
